Ive never eaten proper Nasi Arab before and I never knew why people were so fascinated about it. So I made an effort to try it, and now i wish someone had introduced it to me earlier. I think I'm just lucky that i chose the right restaurant to go to.
As soon as i stepped into the restaurant, I was amazed at the restaurants atmosphere as it exudes a middle eastern aura. The seating was on the floor and they had cushions all over. It looked comfortable although I wasn't sure if sitting down on the floor is a good idea for me as I'd probably wont be able to move or breathe when I'm full. I went with a friend who studied in the middle east and he also agreed with me. We ordered the popular dish which was mandy lamb and the maqluba lamb. It was served in a 'dulang' and we were shocked to see the portion and we were even more suprised that we could actually finish it because it was that good. We initially planned to 'tapau' half of it.The lamb was placed in an aluminium foil on the rice and when we opened it- it was still steamy and we knew it was freshly cooked. The juice from the lamb trickled down the rice and added flavour to the already delicious rice.
For desserts, we tried the omali which was actually bread butter pudding but withan Egyptian twist. For those who don't fancy milk that much, u should give it a pass as it was very milky- bread was drenched in milk, covered with nuts and then baked. After coming here- i cant seem to find any other shops which is as good. We tried the other things on the menu as well but the mandy lamb a s maqluba lamb gets 2 thumbs up from me.
So, would i come her again? definitely
Would i come here for the food? yes!.
