This small Vietnamese restaurant is tucked in a corner along the row of shops on Jalan Kuning. You can actually miss it because its not clearly visible from the road. I came to know of this place through a friend. It was recommended as a halal Vietnamese restaurant and you rarely get halal Vietnamese restaurants in JB. I've been here a few times and honestly its never been disappointing.
The place seems pretty quiet but they have quite an extensive menu. The main thing that you have to try here is their Beef Pho. They serve it hot with the bean sprouts and cili by the side. The broth alone is really tasty and it has converted me to be a soupy person. I've had Pho in Vietnam before and its not that similar as in Vietnam, they use jalapeno instead and they have tons of veggies and different kind of cut meat and they serve it the meat raw initially before letting the broth cook it slightly- i would say the version here is a bit subtle but delicious nevertheless.
I also tried the Dry Pho Noodle/kueh teow served in a bit of soy sauce and a soup on the side. The other condiments were the same as the soupy Pho Noodle.
The Salad Prawn Papaya and the fresh spring rolls are also a hit. The salad was crunchy and fresh and had the right amount of sweetness and sourness to it.
I also like the squid as well and ordered it twice!
On one of my visits- i tried the beef hot pot, the portion is good for 2-3 people, but i would say the vietnamese pho noodle was much better.
We had the lemongrass limeade which was a great thirst quencher but we finished it off with the vietnamese coffee which can be served hot or cold. You can never go wrong with that.
I really recommend this place as the food is good and the price is reasonable.
So,would i come again- definetely.
Would i come here just for the food? yes
