My friend introduced me to this cafe when it first opened as it was close to her office and I've been here a few times as well. Its at the ground floor of the Sutera Mall in Jb and you can actually see it from the outside and the entrance is also there so you don't have to enter the mall. Sutera area has always been a happening eating place, there an abundance of restaurants and cafes and one would be spoilt for choices there. 7 Dish is your typical brunch cafe that serves breakfast all day with pancakes and waffles as well. Since coming here i noticed that their menu changed a few times - not a lot but they seem to cut a few items off or maybe it was only seasonal. I managed to try the Breakfast Anyways- where you basically choose the things you want on your plate. ( Range rm25-29) depending on how many items you choose. (Minimum is 5) I chose 5 items- croissant, smoked salmon, eggs benny , mushroom and hashbrown. It was quite decent but nothing special. The croissant was nice and flaky, but i wished they served this dish with some sauce as it was a bit dry for my liking.
The cat bowl was good. It's basically a poke bowl which had grilled salmon, sweet corn and a half boiled egg. This was quite tasty and the eggs were done perfectly. I would definitely order this again. ( RM17)
One of my favourite dish here is the Salmon mash. It's basically like a soup- salmon in fresh creamy sauce served with a side of fries and salad. I licked the bowl clean( RM 26 )
For those who love mushroom- do order the mushroom cocotte- sauteed mushroom drizzled with truffle oil and served with poached eggs and salad by the side (RMp 18)
The salmon scramble toasties was average and a bit plain for me.
For dessert, I had the tiramisu souffle pancake and it was disappointing. I had to wait for around 30 minutes despite telling them to prep it earlier and it wasn't nice at all and it looked like a mess. It didn't taste like tiramisu and the pancake didn't hold well that day, it was about to break apart. Basically it didn't taste like dessert and wasn't executed well. I couldn't finish it, and i always always finish my desserts.
However, when I went there prior to that, I had another souffle pancake, maybe it was the fruit salad ( I cant remember as they might have changed the menu ) but as you can see, the only fruit on my plate were oranges, but the pancake that time was good. You can see the difference in the shape and texture. So maybe, they had a different dessert chef that day making the disastrous tiramisu pancake.
The coffee here is quite good as well but don't expect anything fancy.
Would I come here again? Yes, if I happen to be in that area I would come back for the salmon mash.
